Holiday again~

My form 6 school life, just last for 8 days until now, because start tomorrow, semester holiday start~!
hoho... so fast rest again, however, I'm not really wanting this holiday as I was in holiday for about half year already, sort of boring...

However, it will be a busy holiday compared with the past one, as I have to study my form 6 stuffs, I've bought some textbooks and will buy the rest tomorrow [maybe], so I can study on my own.

Besides, our chemistry teacher has already planned some extra classes in this two-weeks holiday as she scared she can't finish teaching all the syllabus and don't want just to ask us to read on our own but she wants to "walk the path with us together". Although facing her is quite scary and boring (as she is quite "fierce"), but.. we can't deny her as a dedicated teacher ^o^

lolx... some of the KST members have no difference for this holiday, because.. they haven't start any study yet, they are in holiday everyday =p however, they are going to the camp to have a wonderful gathering O_O
I can't go T_T" ~~~~

New Age

A general term covering a wide variety of alternative spiritual and philosophical movements and beliefs.

New Age music incorporates relaxing, dreamy melodic lines with a quietly harmonic background, primarily in order to promote meditation.

Beliefs found among New Agers include:

All humanity—indeed all life, everything in the universe—is spiritually interconnected, participating in the same energy. “God” is one name for this energy.

Spiritual beings exist, and will guide us, if we turn to them.

The human mind has deep levels and vast powers, which are capable even of overriding physical reality. “You create your own reality.”

Nevertheless, this is subject to certain spiritual laws, such as the principle of cause and effect (karma).

You are meant to be here on earth, in your present surroundings, because you have a lesson to learn. The most important lesson is love.

Death is not the end. The afterlife does not punish us but teaches us, perhaps through the mechanisms of reincarnation or near-death experiences.

Science and spirituality are ultimately harmonious. New discoveries in science, rightly understood, point to spiritual principles.

Intuition is a more appropriate guide than rationalism, skepticism, or the scientific method. Western science wrongly neglects such things as parapsychology, meditation, and holistic health.

There exists a mystical core within all religions, Eastern and Western. Dogma and religious identity are not so important.

The Bible is a wise and holy book. Yet many important truths are not found in the Bible, or are referred to only very obliquely.

Feminine forms of spirituality, including feminine images of the divine, are particularly appropriate at this time.

Ancient civilizations such as Atlantis once existed, leaving behind certain relics and monuments (the Great Pyramid, Stonehenge) whose nature is misunderstood by mainstream historians.

There are no coincidences. Everything around you has spiritual meaning, and spiritual lessons to teach you. You are meant to be here.

The mind has hidden powers and abilities, which have a spiritual significance. Dreams and psychic experiences are ways in which our souls express themselves.

I find this really interesting in some ways. However, New Age received critiques from evangelical Christians owing to different beliefs. One thought to share here: when listening to New Age music, you find yourself drifting away from real life, that is if you define life as something hectic and fast-paced and forever moving forwards or progressing. New Age music actually keep your mind free from all trouble. You feel a sense of peace, calm, tranquility and harmony as well as the mutual relationship between your physical self and spiritual self.

Disclaimer: I don't think New Age music is suitable for any pessimistic person. It kills the power and the urge in you. It soothes you, bringing you to the lowest level of angst but the highest level of emotions. That is quite dangerous to people on the verge of commiting suicide, I believe. (Hmm, did I just make it sound satanic?)

The need of As in my case

Today is a public holiday in Malaysia, so I didn't go to school.
Sundays are public holiday in Malaysia too.
Yesterday was Wesak Day, another public holiday in Malaysia, and unluckily [should be luckily, ngek ngek] it was on Sunday, two public holidays in a day, hence today is another holiday for replacement.

Finish my opening, comes the content, why I said I need to get more A in my SPM?
Few weeks ago, I filled in a form attached with few documents to apply a "reward" for getting "good" result in SPM, it's offered by the templer near my house.
Yesterday, Wesak Day, also the day the templer announced and gave away the 'reward'. However, I was not in the list. There were only 5 rewards for SPM.
The best was 11 A1;
The second was 9A1;
The third (my standard 4-6 classmate who was also a monitor) was 8A1, 1A2;
The fourth (one of my best friend now, also standard 4-6's classmate, form 1-5's classmate) was 8A1, 3A2;
The fifth (my standard 6 classmate who is younger than us one year old) was 7A1, 4A2.

My result... not as good as theirs, just 6A1, 4A2, 1B3. Good? Don't think it's really good. Because of the existence of B, I failed to get the 'reward' offered by Hong Leong Bank and also this templer's.
Hong Leong Bank just offered to those get straight As, I ... fail to get it.
To many people (in my school also), my result is very good indeed, but this result in many popular school, it's just a normal result. I deserved to get this result as I didn't put much effort in it. However, I'm regret that I fail to get those 'reward's a.k.a $$. I'm regret also because I break my record for not getting full As in my important exam. (please don't think that I'm trying to boast, sorry to those get worse result, I'm not purposely say that)

If I was able to get those 'reward', I would have get about RM 800 totally.

Another bad thing happened yesterday, I slipped and fell down when I WALKED (not running) on the slippery floor in my house. The floor was slippery because the maid had just mopped the floor and I didn't know it...As a result, there is a big 'pretty' bruise on my right knee now.

My experience in KMPP

Day One

It rained lightly when I first arrived at the college. After registering, I was given my room number. Much to my dismay, my room is situated at the block Al-Razi , the block farthest away from the academic area and office. To make it worst , its on the second floor!!... I was the first one to enter the room and got a shock when I discovered that the bed, cabinet and tables were so …. “antique” I would say as we have to nurture a spirit of loving our college and standing up for it anytime, anywhere including in this bloggie haha . Well, spent a few hours cleaning and putting everything to place. Then, we had the first ceramah which lasted until 11.30pm. After that, we went back to “urus diri” before lights were turned off at 12am. I couldn’t sleep that night, my mind was sub-conscious the whole night and damn, the room was so hot and humid.

Day Two

Woke up at 5am and attended the daily 6am moral lesson. It was conducted by facilitators which consist of seniors from the previous batch. Basically what we did was splitting ourselves into groups and work on assignments based on three topics. We are expected to make a presentation on the evening sessions for three days, each day with a different topic. The topics were:

Campus Romance
Self-Esteem – Do’s and Don’ts from various aspects in College
Study Skills

Then, we went to our respective LDK [Latihan Dalam Kumpulan] in the morning to meet up with our mentor. Had an ice-breaking session when we have to memorize everyone’s name in the group [30 of them!!] But I managed to anyway. Met a friend from a school nearby through the weirdest form of self-introduction:

A-me, B-my friend

B : Where are you from?
A : Hi , I am from Sitiawan, Perak.
B : I know you. You’re the smartest guy in ACS Sitiawan right?
A : [shocked and speechless] Errr….
B : Peter Tok right ? You’re quite famous in my school.
A : Yes , I am Peter Tok , and where are you from? [Embarassed bcos I don’t know him]

Sno, let me tayang saat ok ? :P

And the conversation went on , I find a friendly character in him , definitely the one to be sought after if I am to encounter any problems or “whatsoever” [my mentor’s favourite word]. My mentor is a very open malay lady and she’s really nice.

In the evening, we were informed to gather at the field in our sports attire. Initially I thought it was the aerobic exercise my senior mentioned a few weeks ago but when I went there they told us what we’re going to do : merentas desa. I was like WHAT THE…. But things weren’t that bad , some of us including me declined the opportunity to win prizes in the real tournament to be held on Thursday so we practically walked through the whole course and managed to irk the facis and the students who had finished the race waiting for us to arrive. HAHA

Bedtime as usual. Before that during Maghrib prayers session , we had the Moral lesson when the first batch of groups present their works… Pretty interesting I would say , one of the groups did a sketch when two of them hid under the table , got busted and expelled.

Day Three and Day Four

Moral , LDK , Merentas Desa , Moral , Sleep. Dead boring and tiring.

These two days were when I started to hate the lifestyle in KMPP . But my seniors was quick to console us that the weeks after orientation would be better. Well I hope so.

Day Five

More relaxed day because merentas desa is over and the malays had to perform their prayers in KMPP surau. During LDK , we were brought by our co-mentor to the various places in our school. We have the KMPP lake , 4 cafeterias , extensive sports facilities , gorgeous lecture halls , school-classrooms-like tutorial classes , and the spacious library. Didn’t have time to explore thoroughly because the time allocated for the session was only one hour. Then , I went to purchase my bus ticket and happily anticipating Day Six when I woke up , had breakfast , packed all my old clothes into a bag and set off.

Day Six

Took the bus from KMPP to Butterworth Station. Met with 10 other friends from the same district , don’t even know them before unless for my 2 classmates. And imagine how embarassed I am when I realized that one of the Chinese girl who are in my practicum group , is from a nearby school and her house is only abt 5 km away. We met at the bus station and Sno , I wont tell you her name.

Overall

Still to early to be sure whether I could adapt to the lifestyle in matriks or not but so far so good . Nevertheless , still hoping for JPA and not feeling like going back to KMPP tomoro. Sobs.

P/S : Pardon my crude English and grammatical mistakes , don’t want waste time , want to save some for my beauty sleep before going back to “hell prison”…. Hehe.

Thank You

Most of us have been brought up to be well-mannered and to say "Thank You" whenever necessary. The words come out from our mouth so naturally and spontaneously that sometimes we ourselves do not realise that the two-word-phrase has been spoken.

Usually, I would say "Thanks" when someone pass me something, no matter how small the object is.

Today, as I'd told Patrick and sno, a traffic police wrote me a summon. After much arguments which proved to be failed self-defence, the traffic police handed me my summon. As usual, I felt like saying "Thank You" but this time I swallowed the words back in. I wonder what would it mean should I utter those words after being given a summon.

Anyway, now I would like to thank the traffic police for the great experience I had with him.

Dear Uncle Police:

Thanks for giving me a big shock when you signalled for me to pull over at the side of the road when I strongly believed that I had done nothing wrong. Thanks for giving me an opportunity to practise and improve my self-defending verbal skills (although I still failed to convince you that you should give me a second chance considering I'm a student). Thanks for drawing all the attentions of the public to me when they drove past us. Thanks for reminding me that ensuring the road tax hasn't expired is the responsibility of the car user. Thanks for spoiling my mood for the whole day and depriving me of my appetite (so that I can keep myself slim). And a million thanks for the whole new experience in my process of stepping into the adult world where I will have to handle all things by myself.

So long KST gang. I hope you guys can keep thinking positively and look on the brighter side of the world, albeit this is often easier said than done. I don't manage to do this all the time also. Just try your best.

[song playing: One of the tracks in The Sound Of Music] So long, farewell, it's time to say goodbye...

Why is KST special?

I have been in KST for 2 months ++. Many friends have been pestering me when they saw me chatting with these "bunch of humans". I told them it's our online gang. Then they will continue, "What is so exceptional about this gang?" I have two versions of answers. My short version will be: "The gang is special because of its people". The long version is this :

a) Cheng Yin Nin @ sno - This gal is getting so jumpy because of her results and had since been applying for many scholarships. Although her results hade been negative this far, she will never give up and currently in a battle with lolilo for the best "One-liner to plead JPA". On the personality, she is quite expressive and of course, very bold, unlike some male character in the group. A character who matches her the most is Hermione in Harry Potter IMO.

b) Peter Tok Seah King @ Handsome @ sotong - This medic fanatic will never stop craving about his future in medicine. He may not seem kind and decent mouth-wise, but on the overall, he is of a friendly nature and I dare say that he won't fall into Satan's trap although he will face one in his KMPP sweet KMPP. He maybe great on the net, but NOT on the phone. A character who matches him the most is Gilderoy Lockhart in Harry Potter IMHO (no one can possibly deny this).

c) Elaine Cheah Yee Leng @ hedwigelaine - She, by far, is the most optimistic gal I have ever seen. She is very down-2-earth and her moderate personality helped her a lot in this. I don't think she is someone who goes after power and money, but rather after those simple things in life that can yet make people very happy from the soul. A character who matches her the most is Lok Yee in Invisible Journey OR Ginny Weasley in Harry Potter IMO.

d) Jesse Chok Yin Ling @ lolilo - This unexpected predator catches her victim by her sharp vocabs. However, for those who are good to her, she will just be a gentle cat. This uncommon gal has the unfair share of decency for Peter all the time but Peter's thick skin will paralyse her words. She, as usual, is a top scorer behind Nooi Hoay, Patrick and 57 others. A character who matches her the most is Evelyn in The Mummy Returns IMO.

e) Patrick Leong Tian Weng @ apek(Peter's unworthy invention) - He is Peter's partner-in-crime and both of them will stir an 10.5 Richter earthquake in the KST chatroom anytime. Unlike his brother, this guy is super friendly and he shares another quality with Yin Ling - sharp vocabs anytime. A strong asset for the country and will produce his best-selling memoirs in 50 years of less. A character who matches him the most is Oliver Wood in Harry Potter IMO.

f) Ang Nooi Hoay @ eggy @ sophisticatedsoul - She is a very intriguing character, but that's what makes her special. She can shock you anytime with her out-of-the-world statements. By the way, she is ranked fourth in the country and her powers are not to be undermined. Her wordless nick in MSN shows no introduction for this prominent figure in the future. A character who matches her the most is Professor McGonagall in Harry Potter IMO.

g) Lai Kee Huong @ lkh1986 @ ok_huge_alien - He is quick on his trigger everytime he chatted in MSN. His quick replies will enlighten you more on his typing speed. This guy is also a professional in trivia and perhaps he's the man Malaysia is looking for in Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? He is someone who tries real hard in doing every single thing on Earth while maintaining his kind character. A character who matches him the most is Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter IMO.

h) Daphne Chong @ deaf-knee - She is still an unknown character to me and it will be untrue if I am to comment about her here. All I know is her shimmering 10A1s.

This is what that makes KST special. Digest it fellas!

Running Out Of Fuel...

Nah, not fuel...it's idea actually.

I've totally run out of ideas to blog. Inspirations usually come to me before I doze off to sleep at night. As I lie down on my bed, all kinds of thoughts would fill me mind. I would suddenly be reminded of something I forgot to tell so-and-so. I would then be reminded of tasks I forgot to carry out. Later, I would find myself lost in a pool of ideas to blog about. Why is that so? Perhaps the time I lie down flat on my back is the moment sufficient oxygenated blood flows into my brain, enabling me to think more clearly.

But then, as we all know, the bed is the most enticing comfort zone of all. And who would care to get up to jot down those ideas? Thus I just let the ideas, sometimes real wonderful ones, fade and evaporise into fine mist as I slip into unconsciousness while the sub-conscious mind takes over the job of the conscious portion.

Dreams then take control of me and reveal the real self. Sometimes it is just unbelievable to see myself acting mad in my dreams. Is that really my true self? I wonder.

Okay, back to the point of this post. I actually plan to dedicate this to our virtual friendship. Virtual not as in not-real, but friendship established via the internet.

As Albert said, we will all be facing our very first test, the pre-university phase. Hope everyone of us can pass the test with flying colours (phrases learnt in school being dug out for use).

As for ReCom, obviously, the activities have been dwindling in these few days due to the fact that school and matriculation are starting soon. A ReCom member once stated that this is the common trend every year. ReCom is most active during the time of scholarships application. And it goes back to rest for about half a year before being waken up by a whole new batch of scholarships seekers the following year.

I was skeptical to this at first. But now I can see the harsh truth for myself.

-The End-

A Jot By A Sot

not the initial post...

and so everyone left for bed... I took out the fifth Harry Potter book that I was reading las nite in Alor Setar, tried to write wat I planned to initially... And I didn't... I wanted to write bout some similarities(pointless post) between myself and Harry that I noticed while reading las nite(haven read it for about two years now) but somehow something weighs more heavily on my mind. The fact that matrics begins tomolo n STPM starts schooling the day after that. I've decided not to go for STPM schooling, not in Sin Min, not in Ibrahim, not in Khir Johari, not in Keat Hwa, not in Jit Sin, not in IBM, not in Chung Ling Butterworth(boy, i really skip about on which school to transfer to =P). N I did not get matrics. N all thats left for me to do now is wait, for JPA to pick me, to give me an easier life...

This waiting however will not be the same without my usual MSN chat members, u guys... For everyone's leaving for school, n I'm left behind, with my lousy results n uncertain future. There will be no crazy peter showing us his nose digging icon, no eggy nudging me almost instantly after she types, SNO... , no lkh telling us to play trivia, no patrick giving us the tantrum throwing kid emoticon, no elaine showing us her shao nian juan ji, no daphne(she's not around for a while d, tho), still no daphne to bounce about in the chat room with me about whos cute n whos not... no everyone everynite on MSN anymore... I know this sounds dramatically sentimental but how often will all of us online with school work at hand? Well, luckily there's still lolilo, who happens to live in my town n now knows where I live, well, she's not going to form 6 too, haha... n of course our albert with his Petronas scholarship, waiting for confirmation on where he's heading next...

ok, suddenly, i forgot the point of my post. Oh yea, there's no point. Just that I feel like typing some melancholy goodbye speech. But seems like I've been focussing on what I'll be missing with u guys gone. OKOK

Peter- will miss his nightly calzone from the nearby pizza hut n have to endure with aerobics in the mornings instead

Eggy- will miss me at physics tuition n might be sitting in front on her own if her frenz still won move to the front rows

lkh- will miss his FRIENDS DVDs and Donald Trumps' next Apprentice season

Patrick- will miss his big bros n sistas on MSN and might even lose to me in Minesweeper nex time, hehe

Elaine- will not be able to showcase her self taken head shots on MSN anymore and might start taking tuitions? =P

Daphne- Will miss her AS with NS coming to an end and will probly meet someone hotter soon

well, albert, me n lolilo wil still be online, hopefully. So guys, don forget us...

YOU PEEPS GO N RULE THEM ALL, yaa....hehe

The Exodus Poem

Based on KST member's overwhelming support, I have completed the sequel for The Exodus Poem. This is the complete poem :

THE EXODUS POEM

I ( For weaker students)
I work like mad,
And study my subjects,
But look what I had,
Not all my effort reflects.

The world is harsh,
Now that I know,
Everyone's in a rush,
No one must stay slow.

I got something good,
But it is never enough,
So I was left to brood,
Into depression's craft.

The winner takes it all,
The losers standing small,
The nation don't recall,
There are others trapped in this all.

As I was down,
My spirit was broken,
God came around,
And tell me this is relevant.

For victory is after loss,
No one can deny,
I should not be cross,
Or God's blessing will fly.

I received a mission,
Something burning strong,
To attack with provision,
So that I won't go wrong.

Now it's getting hard,
To accept the brutal truth,
But I have to be smart,
To show them the proof.

I have to stay low,
Although I do not want to do so,
However, as the future is unfold,
All blessings I will know.

II (For students like me, not good, not bad)

Many are worse than me,
They are not SPM-inclined,
But the future is not gloomy,
Because hope shall they find.

When I got my results,
8A1 and 3A2,
No one insults,
Because to them it’s good.

I was happy beyond description,
Treating all my friends happily,
But I know not the competition,
And applied around innocently.

Cleverer students just relax,
Weaker students just prepare,
I did not accept the facts,
And applied here and there.

The time comes for results,
I failed one by one,
But my cries and shouts,
Seem to reach no one.

Therefore be wise my friends,
Be aware of the battlefield,
Do something that makes sense,
And happiness you will yield.

III (For great students)

I salute your excellence,
Your greatness in studies,
But do not worship the presents,
Or the appealing publicities.

Look into the future,
And prepare with your weapon,
It will be full of adventure,
As anything can happen.

You may end up in INTEC,
Or any other colleges,
But what’s important is the fact,
It promises endless challenges!

You know better than me,
What you will face,
But I hope you can see,
And be merciful in the race.

For achievements wear off fast,
But good deeds last long,
Therefore we have to blast,
Whatever that is wrong.

I wish you all the best,
As you begin this journey,
If you can’t beat the rest,
Just remind yourself about me!

IV (Epilogue)

I am not writing this,
Because I am diffident,
I am writing this,
Because I am different.

Composed by Albert Khor (May 11 2005, 2:58pm)

PS : I have already sent a copy through e-mail to ReMag coordinator.

Preparing for Form 6

If all Form 5 leavers will write a blog about "Future Plans", more than 1.2 million posts will revolve around my topic-Form 6.

For Form 6, I will hit 5 subjects, PA-Maths T-Physics-Chemistry-Economy. Of course, I will slog it out, really slog it out this time to score 5As. I will stop at no junctions or waypoints. In fact, I wanna aim for 90+ in every exam, starting from the first one. My main mission is very simple : to make up for what I have lost and what I have received.

I initially thought that 8A1s, ok lar....straight As also...Now I know the harsh truth. They are NOTHING. Although I said that I will study for knowledge, I cant help but see that I need money to further my studies, therefore needing scholarship, publicity and excellence.

The poem was moved to another post because the sequel is complete.

PS: Patrick, so you know Wun Min(caramel_nut)? How do you know it's her? She wearing a T-shirt with a big picture of a caramel nut? Or is it predestined?

F6, my choice

Since I'd got my SPM result, many people asked me, what's your next plan? Study at college? Your result is so good whoa, do you apply any scholarship huh? However, my result is not that good, I know if I go to apply those scholarships, I wouldn't have any chance, and it's just wasting my money and time, I lazy to go for interview too as I know I am weak in oral speaking, haiz...
Many people think I get a good result, but... I am just lucky. I know what's my standard, I was too lazy. "wah... you lazy and just lucky, can get such a good result ah? aiyo.. then it's so unfair.." I know many of them who get worse result than me would say like this, since some of them are really hardworking people, but still can't get better result. As I always said, exam always not only depends on your knowledge, but also your luck. I always good luck in exam. However, the average result of the whole country was quite low, and that helped me to get good result,[no offense to those get bad one], it's the second aspect. I can tell you, maybe I just understand about half of the syllabus of form 4 and form 5, do you believe it? lol... incredible huh? This is so called a clever student !
aiks... forget it, since I am still blur blur now, blur about what? I am so confused about my future, what is the job I like? Be a doctor? No way... I scared leh... erm... be a lawyer? No No... my oral speaking is so weak, I hate history! Be a... erm.. teacher? maybe yes, maybe no... Be a accountant? Definitely no... I don't study account leh... Be a.... ??? aiya.. really don't know lar... I just know I am interested in biology, science lor.. but not physics lar.. so.. that means? That doesn't bring any suggestions, so... study form 6 lor... [p.s: f6 = form 6]
If I applied for college using my SPM result, I can study without paying any fees, at first I mean, until if I failed to reach the target in the coming exam then I have to pay. But...so how? I don't even know what I want, how to do a specific course? So, there is the only way for me, form 6. I didn't apply for the matriculation too, no mood to do that study, lol.
So, I will take biology + chemistry and another two compulsory subjects in STPM coming soon next year. oh yea, next Tuesday start my orientation for form 6 lor, have to start my study engine ler =p this time definitely will not be like my form 5 lor, I will ensure myself to understand all the topics ;)

A little prayer

Today I failed my driving test, again. Specifically, I failed to execute a three point turn without making more than 3 'olahgerak'(basically, I turned my steering more than 3 times from left to right n right to left, brrrrr) It was raining very hard and I fell sick after running around in the rain. It is the second time that I had failed my driving test. It is depressing.

Reasons for my depression:
1. My driving instructor reminds me strikingly of a person I hate vengefully. Thus, I refuse to take anymore lessons from him despite the fact that I am still a lousy driver.

2. I think 99% of driving instructors are like my driving instructor, hot-tempered. Hence, I refuse to take any lessons from any other instructors.

3. Everyone's too busy to pick me up from the driving school after my lessons/driving test. And the agent would not send me home.

4. There is always a lot of people in the driving test centre. I am the least confident person I know of and I hate crowds. They scare me.

5. Without a driving license, I am stuck at home and getting fatter each day in front of my computer. I desperately want to lose weight but I love food passionately.

6. Even if I do get a license, there is no cars for me to drive.

7. I am feverish at the moment.

8. It is a bugs night. The little flying ants are swarming me and the computer screen instead of the pendafluor light outside. I am itching like hell.

Ok. I also would like to pray at the moment. I do not have a god. But I would like to state my willingness to give up the pleasure of eating meat if Petronas gives me a scholarship this Thursday.

Trip to KL

On 7 May 2005, my family and I went to KL for the MIT talk in Hotel Equatorial.

The talk is mainly to give pointers to those who want to apply to MIT.
There, I met caramel_nut, a ReCommer too. She was really nice, and currently pursuing A-levels in Taylors College.

Mm, then I went to 1 Utama to loiter around. That freaking shopping mall is so freaking large.
My legs were all aching when I returned to my relative's condominium to call it a day.

The next day, I went to Mid Valley Megamall.

Both shopping malls organised fashion shows, in conjunction with the KL Fashion Week. Quite interesting, though!

Oh yea, I didn't take a picture with caramel_nut because my brother left the camera in the car that day =(.

First Encounter With SNO

Will the usage of the word "encounter" sound too serious here?

Tuition was supposed to begin at 2.00 pm. I reached the tuition centre at 1.50 pm. After registration, I walked towards the class, hoping to see sno there. No, she was not there yet.

Tuition started at about 2.05 pm. That was the time sno arrived. She walked in through the back door, scanning through all the students, most probably trying to find me. She finally noticed me sitting in front attempting to catch her attention.

As soon as she sat down beside me, I couldn't help giggling. What language should we use? That's the question repeating itself in my mind. I could hardly concentrate on what the teacher said.

Out of a sudden, sno asked: "What language should we use?"

I replied: "You are using English now."

*Thinking hard of what happened next.*

Sorry dudes. I failed to recall what came next. (Told you I could not concentrate in class...owing to certain reasons.)

Now I remember. Sno suggested we used Mandarin instead. This was the first time someone who started an English conversation with me asked to change to another language. I had experience with people who asked to change to English after chatting with me in Mandarin, but never the opposite way. Thanks sno for the whole new experience.

But well, sno, just to tell you that I actually expected all our conversation to be in English, except when somebody else is around. I never speak English in front of my school mates. So, when they are around, if we speak in English, it might feel awkward. But when they are not around, can we try using English? I might not be able to express myself very well. But it is always good to learn through mistakes. I don't mind embarrassing or humiliating myself in front of you as long as I get an opportunity for practice. Hah.

The tuition ended with sno going back with her mum and me returning home with my sister.

P/S: Peter, sno did bring along her digicam. But due to time constraint, we failed to snap a picture together. So please don't blame her for that. By the way, don't you think it's weird to take a picture at a tuition centre with all the others eyeing you?

KST FOREVER??

Before we embrace KST Forever, will KST last forever. We will see.

Before KST can actually last forever, it has to go through five important tests. Only triumph over these tests will create KST Forever.

The first test, which will be starting very soon, is the PRE – UNIVERSITY TEST. When KST members went to INTEC, Form 6, private colleges or even private universities, will we get together again? Will we be engrossed in our work and forget who is Peter, Yin Ling and everybody else? The “survivors” of this test will be entitled to advance to the second test.

The second test will be the UNDERGRADUATE TEST. Some KST members may even get a sponsorship for overseas studies. By that time, in that 3-7 years span, will KST members lose contact with each other? Can MSN continue the noble job or even technology cannot bring us together? Will some of us even forget the existence of KST? Survivors, as usual, if there are any, will advance to the third test.

The third test will be the POSTGRADUATE TEST. Most KST members will be working or some of them will continue their Masters before coming out into the working world. At that transition period that will be undoubtedly filled with mess and hectic schedules, will KST members have time for other KST associates? Then, the more important thing is will they be befriending documents and files instead of resuming this old friendship? Survivors, if there are any, will advance to the fourth test.

Fourth test is a very exclusive and hard test. This test is really testing the takers. It is the MARITAL TEST. Will KST members get into love complications and end up losing contact with each other? If KST members do not get into that, can they still continue the friendship after their marriage? As they will have their own families, do they have time for each other as friends? Will Peter and Patrick still be seeing each other after 20 years or so? Or will Yin Nin and Yin Ling continue as best buddies after that same period? Time will decide. The survivors, if there are ANY, will advance to the ultimate challenge.

The fifth and ultimate test has NO deadline. TIME will decide. Yes…..time. The final challenge is the TIME TRIAL. The survivors of the first four tests will have surely go through a lot of difficulties, problems and trials. This final test will see if time becomes the strengthening factor or the destroying factor. As time flies, will KST members be bored of the friendship or their friendship will become so strong that this happens after 50 years :

Daphne : Yin Nin, do you have time this Saturday? Let’s go out for a tea.
Yin Nin : Sure. So, the OLD place? What time?
Daphne : Let’s make it 11am.
Yin Nin : Sure. Let’s call Peter, Kee Huong and Albert together if they are not busy.
Daphne : Okay, sure. What about Patrick, Yin Ling, Yee Leng and Nooi Hoay?
Yin Nin : Hah, I forgot about them. How forgetful I am? Okay then. See ya.
Daphne : See you then. I will do the inviting.

Only the survivors of all these tests will create a FOREVER type of friendship. Will KST members live up to that? I will leave it to KST members to ponder. Just for thoughts and for us to appreciate each and every second when we are together now before we face the first nail-biting test.

Something To Read

Came across this article yesterday.
Title : 15 reasons why I hate Chinese wedding dinners...

DISGUISE - The reception table is a thinly disguised payment counter. All ang pows are opened on the spot with the payer's name and amount recorded into a ledger book.

DUH - Gifts are frowned upon because the restaurants do not accept steam irons and other useless presents as barter payment. The host settles the restaurant bill at the end of the night with the cash proceeds. The balance is profit. Duh!

DURESS - There are good reasons why the invitation cards are known as summonses. If you get the saman, you pay; whether you show up or not.

DAMAGE - A strict formula governs the prevailing rates:Show up with your partner, you pay double. Children under seven years of age are not charged. 'No show' discount - maximum 50% NCB ("no came" bonus).

DILEMMA - To make matters worse, Chinese weddings tend to take place all on the same day due to the importance placed on auspicious dates. Just when you are broke at the end of the month, you'll get hit with five summonses.

DELUGE - With almost every couple marrying on the same day, things can get really impersonal and crowded. It is not uncommon to see one tiny restaurant hosting five different wedding banquets. It is also not uncommon to end up sitting at the wrong party.

DEVOR - All those friends who forwarded e-mails enclosing passionate pleas to save the sharks never read their own e-mails, apparently. They dive into that mandatory second course like piranhas.

DETACHED - There is racial polarization even at wedding dinners. Muslim guests are usually relegated to one dark corner with cold and bland food served by a sweaty caterer.

DELUDED - I wish more Chinese wedding dinners are held at halal restaurants because they usually DO NOT have karaoke equipment. Without it, there are less chances of encountering people with delusions of talent.

DETERRENT - It may be fashionable to be late at these weddings but there is a heavy price to pay. You end up sitting with nine anti-social strangers. The guy next to you is bound to spit out fish bones and prawn shells in the most disgusting manner.

DEGENERATE - The guy opposite you will abidingly get drunk and start spinning the table carousel to see who gets the chicken head.

DEFICIT - The entrenched payment system has some serious drawbacks. Some guests are bent on creating a deficit account. They try to consume as many bottles of brandy as they humanly can. Which brings me to my next point.

DISGUST - Never visit the loo after the fifth course. You are bound to see regurgitated shark's fin soup and one season of the four seasons on the sink, urinals or floor.

DAHSYAT - In fact, try not to go to the loo at all. You don't want miss one of the 300 gowns the bride changes into that night.

DECEPTIVE - If you were at the ceremony in the day, you are bound to be surprised in the night. Those sleepy eyed 'chee muis' (bride's girlfriends) you met in the morning show up in the evening magically transformed. Push-up bras rule, says my friend Pey Ling.

Comments pls ?
