First Encounter With SNO

Will the usage of the word "encounter" sound too serious here?

Tuition was supposed to begin at 2.00 pm. I reached the tuition centre at 1.50 pm. After registration, I walked towards the class, hoping to see sno there. No, she was not there yet.

Tuition started at about 2.05 pm. That was the time sno arrived. She walked in through the back door, scanning through all the students, most probably trying to find me. She finally noticed me sitting in front attempting to catch her attention.

As soon as she sat down beside me, I couldn't help giggling. What language should we use? That's the question repeating itself in my mind. I could hardly concentrate on what the teacher said.

Out of a sudden, sno asked: "What language should we use?"

I replied: "You are using English now."

*Thinking hard of what happened next.*

Sorry dudes. I failed to recall what came next. (Told you I could not concentrate in class...owing to certain reasons.)

Now I remember. Sno suggested we used Mandarin instead. This was the first time someone who started an English conversation with me asked to change to another language. I had experience with people who asked to change to English after chatting with me in Mandarin, but never the opposite way. Thanks sno for the whole new experience.

But well, sno, just to tell you that I actually expected all our conversation to be in English, except when somebody else is around. I never speak English in front of my school mates. So, when they are around, if we speak in English, it might feel awkward. But when they are not around, can we try using English? I might not be able to express myself very well. But it is always good to learn through mistakes. I don't mind embarrassing or humiliating myself in front of you as long as I get an opportunity for practice. Hah.

The tuition ended with sno going back with her mum and me returning home with my sister.

P/S: Peter, sno did bring along her digicam. But due to time constraint, we failed to snap a picture together. So please don't blame her for that. By the way, don't you think it's weird to take a picture at a tuition centre with all the others eyeing you?
